To Catch a Pirate by Jade Parker was a book I picked up from the library while looking for something fluffy and diverting.
Annalisa Townsend and her father are off to start a new life but when their ship is attacked by pirates it seems fate has other plans. Although Annalisa attempts to hide in the hold but she is discovered by one of the pirate crew, James Sterling. She convinces him to accept a kiss rather than her mother’s necklace and disappears.
A year later, Annalisa is determined to track down James and convince him to lead her to Crimson Kelly, the pirate responsible for her father’s fall from grace. She aims to reclaim her father’s treasure to restore his good name. Playing with pirates is a dangerous game and Annalisa stands to lose more than treasure.
This was a meh/okay book for me. I wasn’t convinced by the plot and I wasn’t convinced by the characters – I thought the love story was light and predictable. It was quite tame romance. I guess I picked it up hoping that it would be more about a pirate story and less about a teen love love story. But if you’re in the mood for some light young adult romance this would be a decent read.
